Dessau-Rosslau

Nature & design: Heritage in the Bauhaus city

The city is inseparable from the story of the legendary stately Bauhaus, which moved its headquarters from Weimar to Dessau in 1925. The UNESCO World Heritage Sites Bauhaus and Meisterhäuser attract not only tourists, but also designers, artists and architects from all over the world to the third largest city in Saxony Anhalt.

Nature enthusiasts are also drawn here: Dessau-Rosslau is the starting point for many bike and hiking tours through the countryside in the Mittelelbe biosphere reserve.

Attractive cultivated landscapes

Alongside Bauhaus and Meisterhäusern, Dessau-Rollau awaits with a further UNESCO World Heritage Site: The Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Empire is an incomparable cultivated landscape with castles and

landscape parks in an English style. Shifting annual themes, events and exhibits make the Garden Empire a popular destination for tourists. A visit to the Anhaltisches Theater is well worth a visit in the evening - a building with a long history.
