Ludwigshafen

Mild climate and green parks

The city on the Rhine, affectionately called "Lu" by its residents, is the largest city in the Palatinate Region of Germany and is nestled into the left bank of the Rhine, opposite its counterpart Mannheim. The mild climate offers sufficient opportunities for rest and recovery in the numerous parks and green spaces in Ludwigshafen.

The BASF Group is the economic flagship of the city: The group has its headquarters here as well as the world's largest single chemical complex.

Entertainment; Palatine style

People like to party in Ludwigshafen: During the annual carnival, Ludwigshafen and its neighbour Mannheim are overrun by crazy going-ons. Visitors are also drawn to the city outside of the "fifth season". Events such as the Park Festival

and City Festival, as well as the Christmas markets, are all welcomed. The city park is perfect for relaxing. A promenade runs along the Rhine into the heart of the city centre. The private Prinzregententheater entertains its guests in the Palatinate dialect.
