Recruitment 4.0

Hotel industry careers in Berlin

Berlin is one of the hottest employment locations for the hotel industry in Germany.

Particularly when recruiting for the capital city, we are active across all platforms, both digital and physical. This year’s graduate event for the Berlin Hotel Management School took place in February – and of course the GCH Hotel Group was in attendance: around 100 graduates used this networking opportunity to meet our presenters and representatives from competing companies in the hotel and food service industries.

GCH Hotel Group offers career opportunities in Berlin

GCH was represented by Denise Siebert, Area Director of Sales and Marketing, Jeannine Muth, Accounts Team Lead and Annett Rudolph, also from the accounts department. They provided a clearer understanding of everyday and non-everyday life and the complexity of GCH: this covered the internal leadership programme, Commercial Campus and various individual training sessions, to name just a few of the benefits listed by our employees – which were met with an extremely positive response from the graduates.

Our contact with the Berlin Hotel Management School began with former graduates who now work in all departments at GCH. With training in food service and an understanding of the hotel industry, as well as national certification as a specialist in business administration, graduates of the Berlin Hotel Management School are ideal and valuable employees for our company. These graduates not only work in operational roles, they can also be found in our sales, purchasing and accounting teams across Germany and in our Berlin headquarters.

Looking for a career in the hotel industry in Berlin? Anything is possible with the GCH Hotel Group

We want to support young and talented employees through our numerous training programmes and ensure that they can have a long and extremely successful career at GCH. The networking event at the Hotel Management School plays an important role in the selection process, as participants find out whether they identify with GCH and can see a future for themselves in the company. Graduates who want to pursue this opportunity can start in a new field of work – one that they may have only gained a theoretical knowledge of so far, but that they would like to continue in their future career. GCH supports them in this process and trains good employees and future managers. Today, we have many success stories from this kind of training and constant support: going from front desk employee to a training manager at HQ or from bookkeeper with no professional experience to accounts team lead in two years, and many other examples of successful career development within our company.

We asked Jeannine Muth, Accounts Team Lead at the Berlin headquarters and graduate of the Berlin Hotel Management School, what makes GCH the ideal employer:

‘(…) For one thing, employees are not just a number here. In many chains, you are one link of many, learning your basics each day by heart and trying to fulfil every specification. We still put into practice the values of the hotel industry, but we do it in our own individual way. Ideas for changes and improvements are listened to and discussed with the relevant manager to determine whether they can be implemented.

The positive response from students and graduates of the Hotel Management School promises to bring a high number of young and dynamic talents to all areas of hotel management and shows how important a personal approach still is to the recruitment process in the digital era. There was also interest in other regions and their fields of activity – a sign that centralised hotel management brings benefits for all areas.
