Brand change: Swissôtel Düsseldorf/Neuss to become the Crowne Plaza Hotel

Neuss, December 2017. After 30 years as the Swissôtel Düsseldorf/Neuss, the GCH Hotel Group-operated hotel will bear the new name Crowne Plaza Düsseldorf from the end of December after a rebranding initiative. The Crown Plaza brand is one of 12 brands under the umbrella of the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), which is represented in nearly 100 countries with more than 5,000 hotels, making it one of the world’s largest hotel chains. ‘We want to use this change to strengthen the position of the 246-room four-star superior hotel in the conference and meeting room sector,’ says Bart Beerkens, Vice President Commercial GCH Hotel Group. ‘We are convinced that the new brand will create the ideal conditions for this to happen, as Crown Plaza already enjoys a large portfolio, excellent networks and contacts, and decades of experience in this sector.’ The hotel features an event area with 14 meeting rooms and two conference halls with capacity for up to 2,500 people.

No consequences for personnel – big renovations planned

Beerkens emphasised that the rebranding would not affect the staff: ‘All contracts will continue to be valid, and all the around 100 employees and 30 apprentices will work as usual in the new Crowne Plaza Düsseldorf – Neuss.’ In addition, large investments are planned for the coming period, as announced by Jürgen Linder, General Manager at the current Swissôtel and future Crowne Plaza Düsseldorf – Neuss. ‘Among other updates, the smoker’s floor will be closed, a modern tea station will be added to all the rooms, and a quiet zone and concierge service will be established in the lobby.’ All the communal areas and guest rooms are set to be renovated and redesigned by the end of 2020.
