According to an old custom, people throw coins into the spring to make sure to return to Donaueschingen one day. The international equestrian tournament CHI Donaueschingen is held annually
in the Palace Gardens. It is Germany's second largest equestrian tournament. Top athletes compete in different disciplines such as show jumping, dressage, polo, chariot races and cross-country competitions. In addition, a colourful traditional parade takes place.
